David MORENO
David Moreno received his BS degree in Biochemistry at the University of Extremadura in 2008, and the PhD degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University Complutense of Madrid in 2013. He performed his predoctoral studies at IMDEA Energy Institute, being also appointed Visiting Researcher at the University of California – Berkeley (2009), CIEMAT (2010) and Chalmers University of Technology (2012). After completing his doctoral studies, he joined the Industrial Biotechnology Group at Chalmers University of Technology as Postdoctoral Researcher (2014-2016). In April 2016, he joined the Biofuels Unit at CIEMAT as Juan de la Cierva Fellow, where he continues today as Tenured Scientist. His research career has been focused on the production of biofuels and bioproducts from lignocellulosic biomass as alternative to oil-derived products. In particular, his research efforts have been directed at investigating Applied Biocatalysis and Microbiology to improve the process performance of both enzymatic hydrolysis and fermentation steps, the latter mainly involving the use of non-conventional yeasts.
