Valeria MAPELLI
Valeria Mapelli has a PhD in Industrial Biotechnology and since 2022 is Associate Professor in Fermentation Chemistry and Industrial Microbiology at the Department of Biotechnology and Biosciences at the University of Milan-Bicocca. In the past Valeria Mapelli has worked as researcher at the Danish Technical University (Denmark), Chalmers University of Technology (Sweden), and in industry, where she gained experience in fermentation process development for industrial scale fermentations. Currently, as Associate Professor in the IndBioTechLab group, she is responsible for the fermentation platform, and she is involved in research projects aiming to develop and optimize yeast-based bioprocesses for the sustainable production of diverse products, including organic acids, agrochemicals, nutraceuticals, and recombinant proteins. The interlink between microbial physiology and fermentation process is one of the main focuses of her research aiming at the optimization different bioprocesses and development of yeast cell factories.
