Patrick Fickers

Patrick Fickers is a biochemist by training and holds a joint PhD from the University of Liège (Belgium) and AgroParisTech (France). He conducted a postdoctoral research at Polytech Lille in France before joining the Centre of Protein Engineering at the University of Liège in 2005 as an FNRS Postdoctoral Fellow. From 2009 to 2014, Dr. Fickers served as an Associate Professor at the Université libre de Bruxelles (Belgium) and was also the head of the Biotechnology and Bioprocess Unit. Since 2015, he has been a Professor at the TERRA Teaching and Research Centre at the University of Liège, where he leads a small research group focusing on metabolic engineering and process development of the non-conventional yeasts Yarrowia lipolytica and Pichia pastoris. Dr. Fickers has authored over 100 research papers and reviews, ten book chapters, and holds three patents.
