Cristina González Fernández has wide expertise in biotechnological conversions by optimizing aerobic and anaerobic processes. Cristina has demonstrated innovative solutions to overcome challenging conditions in anaerobic digestion processes and the production of alternative carbon sources for yeast. Some of these solutions include the manipulation of the microbiomes, the use of different reactor configuration, the use of pretreatments to increase organic matter availability or detoxify feedstocks, or implementation of strategies to cope with perturbances of operational parameters. The development of sustainable solutions is endorsed by several projects financed both from EU and from national funding.
