Elodie Vlaeminck
Elodie is the R&D Platform Manager for Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU) at Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant (BBEPP), a leading service provider in process development, scale-up, and custom manufacturing of biobased products and processes.
In her role, Elodie oversees all research initiatives related to CCU, driving the development of innovative research lines aiming at bridging the gap between scientific discovery and industrial application in the transition toward a circular bioeconomy. Her group focuses, amongst others, on utilizing CO2 as a feedstock in gas fermentation processes to create high-value bioproducts, such as single-cell protein (SCP), polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) bioplastic, or triacylglycerol (TAG) oil.
Elodie obtained her PhD in bioengineering through a collaboration between BBEPP and Ghent University (Belgium), which included a research stay at CSIC CIB (Madrid). She also holds a master’s degree in bioscience engineering with a specialization in chemistry and bioprocess technology from Ghent University.
