Mireille KALLASSY AWAD
Mireille has been a Professor of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Saint-Joseph University in Beirut, Lebanon, since 1999, within the Department of Life and Earth Sciences at the Faculty of Sciences. In addition to teaching, Prof. Kallassy serves as the Industrial Technology Master's Program Coordinator and is a Sworn Health, Nutrition, and Microbiology Expert for Lebanese courts.
Mireille Kallassy's scientific interests span several cutting-edge fields, including biocontrol and bioremediation, the characterization and production of biopesticides, and the study of various aspects of bacterial virulence. Her expertise also includes molecular analysis of yeast, fungi, and bacteria, as well as research into primary cell culture and reproductive tissues in vitro- focusing on aging, toxicity, and regeneration. She has extensive experience in preparing tissues and organs for transplantation.
Beyond academia, Prof. Kallassy is an accomplished entrepreneur and innovator. She is the co-founder of a biopesticide production start-up. Additionally, she serves as the Scientific Director of the Lebanese Human Tissue Bank, showcasing their dedication to advancing healthcare and biotechnology.
